We were delighted to be part of Elephantastic, Horsham community’s charity fundraising campaign, earlier on this year, and created a very special edition to the elephant safari: ‘Ann Cestor’, a majestic woolly mammoth!
After much hard work and preparation, and two months of safari trails in and around Horsham, the Elephantastic campaign culminated with the grand finale: ‘Elephantastic the Auction’. The auction was presided over by Brian Blessed and Bargain Hunt’s Jonathan Pratt and, with Virginia McKenna OBE (star of the movie Born Free and founder of the charity that bears the movie’s name) also in attendance, there was a real sense of occasion.
The auction achieved over £10,000, with the record bid of the day made by The Belfry Shopping Centre in Redhill, who won Ann Cestor for an incredibly generous £2,500. Ann had been signed by Brian Blessed and Virginia McKenna OBE, and will take pride of place at The Belfry Centre’s ‘Mammoth Sale’ celebrations in January, after which she will make her ‘forever home’ at Chestnut Tree House and the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.
The creatively inspired community event brought together businesses and individuals raising awareness and vital funds for numerous charities including the amazing work of locally based The Born Free Foundation and we were thrilled to be a part of it.
