Cookie Policy
Last updated July 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how PMW Communications Ltd (“PMW”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on pmwcom.co.uk (the “Website”), the purposes for which we use them and the choices available to you. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle personal data, including our use of Conversion APIs and server-side tracking where applicable referred to below.
This policy is written under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (“PECR”), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (“DUAA”). Some of the rules changed in February 2026 – see “Cookies that no longer need your consent” below.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They’re widely used to make websites work, improve how they function, remember your preferences and provide reporting information to the website owner about how their sites are used.
Cookies set by us are known as “first party cookies”. Cookies set by someone else – for example, an analytics or advertising provider – are “third party cookies”. Third party cookies enable those organisations to provide features through our site, such as advertising, embedded content or analytics, and may recognise your device when you visit our website and other websites.
We also use similar technologies that work like cookies, but perform comparable functions, including tracking pixels and, for advertising measurement, server-side “Conversion APIs” – explained in a section later in this Cookie Policy.
Why do we use cookies?
We use first- and third-party cookies for a few reasons:
- Essential cookies – required for the site to function properly. These can’t be switched off.
- Functionality cookies – remember your preferences and settings to improve your experience when using our website.
- Analytics cookies – help us to understand how the site is used by visitors, so we can improve its content, performance and usability.
- Performance cookies – helps us to keep the site running smoothly and deliver better user experience.
- Advertising cookies – used by us and our third party partners to show you relevant ads, measure how well those ads perform and, where appropriate, personalise the advertising you see on our website and elsewhere.
Cookies that no longer need your consent
Since February 2026, UK law no longer requires prior consent for cookies used purely for anonymous, aggregated statistics, or to remember your preferences – provided you’re told about them and given a clear way to opt out. We still give you control over these exemptions through our cookie settings, but you won’t see a consent request for this narrow category specifically.
Cookies used for advertising, retargeting personalisation, or any similar tracking technologies, including Conversion API (see below) still require your consent. If you do not consent, then these cookies and related server-side tracking will not be used.
How can I control cookies?
You can accept, reject or customise cookie preferences at any time using the cookie settings banner, managed through our approved consent management platform (CMP). This is displayed and appears when you first visit our website and is also available via the cookie settings [make url please] link (or icon) [can we insert an image here to demonstrate?] in the website footer. Essential cookies cannot be disabled through our Cookie Settings because they are necessary for our website to function correctly.
You can also set or change your browser’s own cookie controls at any time. We recommend checking your browser’s help menu for further information as methods vary between browsers. Please note that if you reject certain cookies, some parts of our website may not work as intended.
Most advertising networks also offer their own opt-out tools. For example:
Your Online Choices: https://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/
Digital Advertising Alliance: https://optout.aboutads.info/
How long your choices last
We store your cookie preferences for 12 months.[please check this within CookieYes settings and amend as appropriate.] After that, we’ll ask you to consent again. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings. [make url please] We’ll ask you to consent again sooner if we start using new cookies, or change what we use them for.
Conversion APIs and server-side tracking
As well as cookies, we (and clients we run advertising campaigns for) may use “Conversion APIs” (CAPI) – sometimes called server-side tracking – offered by platforms such as Meta, Google and TikTok. These send campaign performance data, for example, that an enquiry or purchase happened, together with a ‘hashed’ (anonymised) identifier such as your email address, directly from our server to the advertising platform, alongside or instead of a browser-based pixel.
We only do this where you’ve consented to advertising cookies through our cookie settings. If you decline or have not consented through our Cookie Settings, we will not use server-side tracking or send matching data for these purposes. Because this involves personal data, not just device-level tracking, the fuller picture – what’s sent, why and the international transfer safeguards that apply – is set out in more detail in our Privacy Policy, in the “Conversion APIs and server-side tracking” section and explains what information may be shared, why it is processed and the safeguards that apply where information is transferred outside the UK.

Other tracking technologies (web beacons and pixels)
Cookies aren’t the only way we or our marketing partners recognise visitors. We may also use web beacons (sometimes called tracking pixels or clear GIFs) — small graphics that tell us when someone has visited a page or opened a marketing email. These usually rely on cookies to work, so declining cookies will generally stop them working too.
Targeted advertising
Third parties may set cookies through our site to serve advertising, both on our site and elsewhere. These companies may use your visits to this and other sites to show you relevant ads, and to measure how well those ads perform. This doesn’t let us or them identify you by name or contact details unless you’ve separately given us those details — for example, by filling in a form.
How often we update this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, if the cookies we use change, or for legal or operational reasons. The date at the top shows when it was last updated; please check back periodically.

What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?
Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website. We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called “tracking pixels” or “clear gifs”). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has visited our Websites or opened an e-mail including them. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within a website to another, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to the website from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of e-mail marketing campaigns. In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.
Do you use Flash cookies or Local Shared Objects?
Websites may also use so-called “Flash Cookies” (also known as Local Shared Objects or “LSOs”) to, among other things, collect and store information about your use of our services, fraud prevention and for other site operations.
If you do not want Flash Cookies stored on your computer, you can adjust the settings of your Flash player to block Flash Cookies storage using the tools contained in the Website Storage Settings Panel. You can also control Flash Cookies by going to the Global Storage Settings Panel and following the instructions (which may include instructions that explain, for example, how to delete existing Flash Cookies (referred to “information” on the Macromedia site), how to prevent Flash LSOs from being placed on your computer without your being asked, and (for Flash Player 8 and later) how to block Flash Cookies that are not being delivered by the operator of the page you are on at the time).
Please note that setting the Flash Player to restrict or limit acceptance of Flash Cookies may reduce or impede the functionality of some Flash applications, including, potentially, Flash applications used in connection with our services or online content.
Do you serve targeted advertising?
Third parties may serve cookies on your computer or mobile device to serve advertising through our Websites. These companies may use information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide relevant advertisements about goods and services that you may be interested in. They may also employ technology that is used to measure the effectiveness of advertisements. This can be accomplished by them using cookies or web beacons to collect information about your visits to this and other sites in order to provide relevant advertisements about goods and services of potential interest to you. The information collected through this process does not enable us or them to identify your name, contact details or other details that directly identify you unless you choose to provide these.
How often will you update this Cookie Policy?
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Please therefore re-visit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.
The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
