What I like about my role
What I enjoy most about my role is that ads never stand still. The industry changes constantly, whether that’s platforms evolving, shifts in consumer behaviour, new competitors entering the space, or changes in the wider market. If you stop learning for too long, everyone else has already moved on. I think that’s what makes the role both challenging and rewarding.
You’re never really a complete master of ads. You become someone who’s good at adapting, learning quickly, and navigating constant change. Every account brings different challenges and unexpected problems to solve, and I enjoy that variety. In a lot of roles there’s a fairly standard playbook, but in ads there often isn’t. You need to stay current, think strategically, and react quickly because you’re effectively the first thing many people see from a brand. I enjoy the balance between creativity, data, psychology, and problem solving that comes with that.
Outside work
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time at the gym. Mostly the glory muscles if I’m honest, but I genuinely enjoy it and love staying active.
My biggest passion though is film and television. I’ve watched over 2,000 titles and shows over the last decade across all kinds of genres, including world cinema. I love everything around storytelling: how projects are made, who they’re made for, the decisions behind them, and how stories can be told in really creative or emotional ways. It’s probably my favourite form of storytelling overall.
I’m also a big fan of story driven video games and fantasy audiobooks. I really enjoy rich worlds, strong characters, and immersive experiences, whether that’s through film, games, or books.
Outside of that, I’m fairly simple. I enjoy good conversations, humour, going to the pub with friends, being out in the sun and spending time around people. I think I’m naturally quite curious, so I enjoy both really interesting conversations and completely ridiculous ones equally.
