Turning the tables – our Josh lands guest spot on music show

Radio campaigns create kudos for clients. We've always been fans of this platform, and believers in the power of radio advertising. Over our 25-year history, PMW has helped hundreds of clients get their message across via this medium and we're experts at making sure our radio bookings make an impact.

This month, we emerged from the background to make our own guest appearance on the airwaves. Our very own Account Manager, Josh Killner, was invited to share his love of music on Seahaven FM 96.3 as part of Roy Stannard's show The Whole Nine Yards. In true Desert Island Discs style, Josh was asked to choose the tracks which have a special meaning to him.

On air every Thursday evening from 7-9pm, Roy's show appeals to music lovers across the East Sussex area, from Lewes to Seaford. It has previously featured guests as diverse as the late Denis Healey, and David Courtney, who discovered Leo Sayer and founded the Brighton Marina Walk of Fame. The programme aims to focus on lesser known musical gems, retrieved from the dustiest corners of fans' music libraries, as well as up and coming artists.

As former colleagues, Josh and Roy hit it off due to their shared love of music. Josh's passion for collecting vinyl records was a key topic for discussion on the show. It's a passion that began purely by chance when Josh discovered his stepdad's record player in the loft. He comments:

"Before then I had always enjoyed music, like most people, but it was only upon discovering vinyl that I really came to love and appreciate music and take enjoyment from discovering new (and old) sounds. I've been collecting (and spending fortunes on) vinyl ever since."

Trained in broadcast journalism, Josh feels at home in front of the camera or behind the mic. The hardest part of the experience was narrowing his selection down to 20 tracks. Josh describes his taste as 'eclectic' and his medley reflected this, with songs from The Rolling Stones, Otis Reading, Bombay Bicycle Club and Frank Sinatra.

Roy's first-rate knowledge has been cultivated over 40 years of collecting and appreciating music from around the world. He's been instrumental in establishing leading regional radio stations such as Splash FM, and now works with undiscovered talent to secure record deals.
