This month our very own Peter Sutton and Lizzie Blount attended the Sussex 100 – a celebration to mark Cub Scout's 100th birthday.
Both Pete, our marvellous Managing Director, and Lizzie one of our extra efficient Account Managers, have been members of Horsham's 1st Shipley Scout Group for many years. In fact, Pete holds the role of Group Chairman after helping with the Horsham group for over 15 years as well as being a Cub Scout when he was a boy.
Despite being only 23 years old Lizzie has been in Scouting for over 12 years after joining as a young girl and over the years has worked her way up the ranks, being promoted to 'Akela' of 1st Shipley Cubs and being invited to participate in the Queen's 90th birthday parade on the Mall this year.
As part of the Sussex 100 celebration, Pete and Lizzie, 3 other leaders and 17 children travelled to the Ardingly Showground near Haywards Heath, Sussex for a special weekend of activities all in celebration of the Cub Scouts 100th birthday.
They joined over 2500 young children and 1000 adults who all spent their weekend enjoying themselves, sleeping in tents, meeting new Cub Scout groups and taking part in a variety of adventurous activities, including Cubs Got Talent!
Taking part in a variety of outdoor activities such as climbing, caving, shooting and zip wires, Pete said:
"It was a weekend to remember. The children had a lot of fun, as did the adults, and it was a brilliant opportunity for our group to interact with other groups in the Sussex area."
